Viljoen & Reza’s Highveld Wedding

On a very rainy day, similar to what we’ve been experiencing in the Western Cape recently, Reza and Viljoen embraced the cosy comfort of The Cowshed to celebrate their union as husband and wife. Regardless of the winter chills, that day, they managed to take some breathtaking pictures outside. And as every cloud has a silver lining, we can point out quite a few silver linings. The beautiful decor, brightening up the room with classic floral arrangements in fresh off-white hues. The attention to decorative detail was admirable to say the least. The bridesmaids wore funky outfits, ideal for facing the cold weather, without freezing in a cocktail dress. Reza looked the part of a radiant bride, warming up guests hearts and putting a big smile on the face of her ‘hubby-to-be’. We love her romantic and soft hairstyle, paired with simple earrings and a lace detailed A-line gown. It’s picture perfect. Kim Tracey was there to capture the special moments of the day.

Their Story

Reza

I went for an interview at my first ever job, where I spotted the most handsome man I have ever seen. Lucky for me, I got the job, and started working with Viljoen in November 2010. My stomach made a thousand twirls every time I saw him, from there innocent emails containing work related arrangements had to be deciphered for hidden clues and the embedded love letter. After a couple of weeks of innocent flirting, we eventually revealed our feelings towards each other.

Viljoen

I was introduced to a potential employee. Little did I know I was being introduced to the most spectacular, intelligent, bubbly and loving person I would ever meet. Furthermore, that I would be lucky enough to become her husband. Interest turned into fascination, fascination into various random questions and events – just to interact and spend time with her. Pretty soon, I knew I had met the person I wanted to spend the rest of my life with, then a kiss – and the rest is history.

What was the highlight of your wedding day?

Seeing my future husband at the end of the aisle and the rain clearing up just before the end of the ceremony- the Highveld is the most beautiful place after pouring rain.  And I will never forget seeing all three my grown-up brothers in tears. We also had a wonderful night with our friends, partying until the early hours of the morning.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings?

Enjoy every second from the minute you wake up in the morning, be peaceful, be happy and do not let your emotions go haywire, enjoy your friends, enjoy your family and remember to hug your dad. Let your husband-to-be visit you before you start getting ready, to share a few moments with you before all the formalities and festivities kick off.

Did anything unexpected happen on your big day?

My remarkable mom took me to the ladies room, had me stand on the toilet while she cut away at the layers and layers of my brand new Enzoani dress, so that I could walk, dance and enjoy my evening.

Our favourite people, delicious food, beautiful things, unbelievable natural surroundings and love- that’s what life is about, that’s what we are about, and that’s what our wedding weekend was about!
