Springtime Pastel Bridal Inspiration

To find the right look for your special day, it’s all about trying out different looks and finding the right one for you. That’s exactly what this team of creatives did. based on their idea of a springtime romance, they added various elements and found the perfect combination of fantasy and elegance for their watercolour romance inspiration. We asked coordinator Amo Venter to tell us more about all the details of their day.

The Inspiration

Vernorexia: a romantic mood inspired by spring. I wanted the concept to reflect the warm and romantic feeling you get in spring, but also be modern and up to date with the new trends. We played around with soft pinks, rose gold, greys and also with a dark, dusty blue. The idea was to see how many looks we could do with this concept.

The Elements

I chose Ex Nihilo, because I loved the contrast between the huge industrial look of the windows to the soft colour palette of the decor. The colour palette made me think of spring and the romance of the season. The decor we used were mainly very modern pieces. The soft pink suede couch with rose gold throw pillows was the perfect element to break down the hard look of the venue. Rose gold cutlery made the pinks used on the table stand out so much more and complimented the dark dusty blue plates perfectly. Our bride had flow-y curls and a side braid, giving her a more romantic and relaxed look that worked perfectly with her strong features. The soft smokey eye and dusty pink lip also pulled the look perfectly together.

Tips to help others achieve a similar look

Remember to keep it simple – less is always more. We played around a lot with the centerpieces and the plates and napkins, having the same look in mind but seeing what is actually possible. These days you do not need flowers on a table, you can use candles of different heights and color and create such a warm and inviting atmosphere. Our bride had such strong features, if we chose hair and makeup that was not natural, it would take the attention away from the soft, romantic look of the dress.

I loved making the cake, with textured buttercream in hues of grey and blush with subtle greenery at the back and a band to accentuate and draw attention to the middle of the cake. Simple yet elegant. – Limi Patisserie

For the stationery suite I used soft pink florals and hints of green with a white textured background. The names of the bride and groom in copper with the rest of the wording in a 70% black and soft pink, I didn’t want to do a solid black because of the “hardness” to the eye. – Fleur Design Studio

The Orchard dress from our new Botanical Collection was chosen for this shoot. The dress is soft and romantic and is made of fine Chantilly lace combined with thicker floral lace as well as a touch of gold lace that is hand-sewn onto the top. The dress is lined with ivory satin to bring out the detail in the lace. The dress compliments the shades used in the flowers as well as the decor on the table and together it creates a cohesive overall look. – Zanne Couture
