The dress

My wedding dress was a Monique Lhuillier Alencon lace gown that I chose while shopping with my Mother in America – I just couldn’t imagine finding my gown without her. I had fallen in love with the dress online (it was from an old collection).

The story

I am originally from America, but was sent by the company I work for, to South Africa for a one-year contract. It would be in Johannesburg, whilst enjoying my time abroad, where I would meet Kevin. We met at a Halloween party, and decided to go on a date, because we were both vegetarians and wanted to check out the restaurant of a vegetarian-friendly chef we both heard of.  Upon arriving at the restaurant on our first date, we were informed that the chef had quit the day before – great start. The food was, to use the waitrons own words – ‘a terrible mistake’. In spite of all this, we had a wonderful date, which quickly led to many more.Six months later I returned to America – my heart was broken. I was home, but something didn’t feel right. Our physical separation only lasted six months; I quit my job and returned to South Africa to be with Kevin. A few months later, Kevin proposed on the side of a cliff on a private canopy tour in the Magaliesburg Mountains – and of course I said yes!

Planning your big day

Planning Tip:
Kevin and I utilised online sharing of documents on Google Drive so that our checklists were always accessible and up-to-date.
