Winter Wedding Inspiration with a Romantic Touch

This team of creatives were in awe of the beautiful surroundings of the Franschoek valley and created something which totally captivated our imaginations. We all love dainty details and feminine touches, which is what this shoot was all about. It focussed on combining a modern edge to classic French style, pairing amazing florals with a plain backdrop and hints of regal gold. They used the season as their guide and expertly incorporated the falling leaves and array of burnt copper and orange shades to tie into their setting.

The Inspiration

We were inspired by the French wine country – this shoot was all about romance and classic elegance. With the magnificent Franschhoek valley, Groot Drakenstein mountains and the spectacular vineyards as our backdrop we really couldn’t ask for more beauty! Lynx Wine Farm’s horse stables served as the perfect location to showcase the shoot’s stylish charm, whilst Jack and Jane Photography wonderfully captured all the earthy colours.

The Florals

With winter fast approaching, I wanted to inspire brides with romantic, dreamy flower arrangements by using earthy and deep, moody colours when choosing the flowers. In creating the arrangements, I let the flowers do what they want – the end result being a messy and loosely arranged, yet structured, composition. I used brown Cymbidiums, red and soft pink roses, some white roses for contrast and foraged greenery like autumn leaves. When it came to the installation, I wanted to create a big opulent appearance and foraged as much greenery as possible. Besides the roses, I added some Anthuriums, Tulips and Amaranthus for that hint of colour.

The Beauty

With this shoot we decided to go for an understated, contemporary feeling with the hair and make-up. For the hair I felt that a modern, unfussy top bun would be a great way to inspire brides who are bit less traditional and are looking for something different.

While the make-up remains clean and simple, with the features gently enhanced and highlighted, the striking deep plum lip becomes the focal point.

Be careful of trying out new trends for the very first time on your wedding day. Make sure that you have booked a trial with your make-up and hair artists in advance to ensure that you feel comfortable on your wedding day, as the look you will be wearing should be an extension of you.
