Sometimes all you need for a successful, fun celebration is a gorgeous venue, a few good friends and family, and lots of champagne! This one is the perfect example of one of those times…the modern touches and simple decor added a chic, minimalist balance to the entire day and we loved the couples’ ties to Cape Town. Make sure to find out what happened to the champagne in the end!
There was an immediate connection we met – I’d planned a trip to South Africa in 2013 and after only three months of dating, Tobi joined me on this incredible trip. We both fell in love with Cape Town and all it has to offer. We returned two years later and it was so fitting when Tobi proposed during our wonderful stay at Muratie Wine Farm in Stellenbosch!
We spent an incredible week at the breathtaking villa, Maison Noir, in Hout Bay and for us it was the perfect setting for our wedding. It brought so much to our intimate wedding day in terms of the architecture, design and relaxed atmosphere. The décor look and feel worked hand-in-hand with the natural materials at the venue. Beautiful gold, white and touches of green, it was exactly how we envisioned: simple, clean and modern!
We are best friends. We live and laugh together. We work together and we make a perfect team! Neither of us expected that there is something like a soulmate in life. But there is!
My dress was designed by two young designers from Hamburg, where we live. I simply love what they do – the end result was simple and elegant, everything I wanted! I’d met one of the designers during a small design fair in Stuttgart and we had so much fun. So it was clear from the start that my dress had to be designed by them.
Any planning tips?
Take your time, find out what feels right for you and relax – do one step after another. If you’re able to, ask professionals for help. Especially if you are planning a destination wedding – having Wedding Concepts involved helped a lot!
After the wedding (and a week of staying at Maison Noir) we had a couple of weeks in Cape Town with our families and best friends – that was all we needed. We hope we will come back soon to introduce our twins to Cape Town and South Africa!
Did anything unexpected happen on the day?
We had brought in Muratie champagne (as it’s a special bottle for us) for the celebration and it seems everyone loved it too much because we ran out of stock – something we still laugh about!
