Atlantic Watercolour Elopement Inspiration

A seaside elopement for just the two of you – watercolours and romance abound! We loved this elegant setting, combined with the Mother City’s breathtaking scenery. When planning such an intimate event, make sure to stick to what makes you and remember that less is always more! We asked the creatives to tell us what inspired this watercolour wonder.

The Inspiration

Cape Town must be one one of the most unique and versatile locations if you’re looking for an intimate wedding under the African sun! It’s no wonder so many adverts and films are captured around the city – it has so many different faces and they’re all are truly breathtaking! This elopement setting was at the boutique lodge, Tintswalo Atlantic, located at the base of the Table Mountain and right next to the Atlantic sea! Using the talented local, as well as international vendors, the setting was created to capture a romantic African elopement! This cosmopolitan city is perfect for the modern bride who wants to create an adventure out of their destination wedding.

We decided to choose one of the most beautiful parts in Cape Town to showcase the beauty of what is the coastal area. Tintswalo showcases a truly unique experience and fitted perfectly for this elopement styled setting. What more would you want, than a private beach location, combined with beautiful tablescapes, stunning views and a gorgeous couple?

The Elements

We wanted to keep the colours natural due to the surroundings already being so beautiful on their own. We thought of creating a personal experience for the couple by enhancing the area with small touches in the décor. We used various blues, grey and gold tones to finish of the entire look and feel. The flowers used for this setting added some African inspired textures, combined with a modern elements like the rectangular stand that’s so trendy at the moment.

The overall place setting consisted of gold tones with the glassware, cutlery and charger plate, accompanied by a textured goblet glass, finished off with beautiful stationery to draw the attention to the setting. We wanted to also include florals with vibrant rich blush tones and greenery as this comes together nicely with the overall tables scape. The cake was designed to fit within the stationery elements, with stunning leaf detail that is pulled through from the menus to the cake.

Tips to achieve a similar look

Elopements need to be extremely personal so try not to overcomplicate it. All the details tied into one another, such as the chairs that have the white and wooden look to them, which complimented the woven bamboo basket and stands.
