A Fun-Filled Day In The Inner-City For This Adventurous Couple

Hayley and Robbie wanted to capture their love for each other, as well as the city where they had first met six years ago. Instead of the usual spots in Cape Town, they wanted a fun, unconventional approach to the city’s landmarks. After a bit of a hike to find the perfect spot with Table Mountain as the backdrop, they got their toes wet at the tranquil Maiden’s Cove, and finally captured some moments with 12 Apostles in the background to complete the picture. The shoot ended with the hustle and bustle of Long Street’s night life filled, with drinks and sidewalk kisses. A true Mother City experience!

Their Story & the Proposal

We met one night, almost six years ago, on Hayley’s birthday. By chance we bumped into each other three more times during the next two weeks and suddenly I became intrigued by this girl. I finally plucked up the courage to ask her out – the best decision of my life because I’ve never looked back.

We got engaged in November 2015 and it took a lot of effort from my side to keep it a surprise. I told her that I had planned something special for her birthday, so off we headed to the waterfront and that’s when the fun started. We set off in a helicopter from the waterfront to De Grendal Wine Farm in Durbanville, where I had arranged for a picnic set up in the gardens. After some champagne to calm the nerves, we enjoyed our picnic and stunning view of Table Mountain. After lunch we took a walk down to the lake where I got down on one knee and asked her the most important question of my life…and she said yes!

I am marrying the funniest man in Cape Town. Rob is always making me laugh and he keeps me on my toes. He has the biggest heart and we balance each other out so well. I am spoilt to be with him, because he’s such a romantic – I always come home to cute little surprises, love letters and treats.

Why an Inner City Engagement?

We wanted to do something a little bit more adventurous and we also wanted to meet our wedding photographer, Marli. I had been emailing her for quite some time and over email I felt like I was chatting to one of my close friends. She is so enthusiastic and easy going, Rob and I both knew she was the perfect choice to capture the essence of our wedding day. She made us feel so relaxed and comfortable during the engagement shoot and really helped us get some amazing shots. The bundu-bashing on Table Mountain and the bruises as a result were all worth it.
