Greece is one of the most popular travel destinations in the world, and it’s certainly on my bucket list. Photographer Christene de Coning and her friend Nerissa made their way to Greece to visit the islands Santorini, Paros and Mykonos. The girls had a ball exploring the pristine beaches and culinary delights the ancient islands have to offer. They spent nine days on the islands, spending lazy afternoons taking dips in the clear blue water and browsing through the quaint shops and eateries.
Mykonos is the place to be with a fun vibe and amazing social happenings. On this island the parties never end!
What was the most memorable part of your trip?
Photographing Oia, the beautiful landscape and oceanic views were truly a treat to capture. I had gone for a walk to photograph the area, it was so peaceful and I could only hear my footsteps as I walked. There was only a slight breeze and all the magnificent surrounding for me to take in.
Favourite culinary experience in Greece?
The salads were amazing. Another favourite dish was chicken kebabs with pita bread and tzatziki sauce.
Remember to pack the following when visiting Greece:
Sunscreen and rehydrate sachets. And of course I never travel without my camera and sling bag.
Travelling in Greece was an amazing experience and I would go back tomorrow.
Any advice for travelers visiting Greece?
Ferry rides prove to be challenging at the best of times, so be warned. My advice if you are planning to do a short trip like ours is to plan at least three days per island and spend one of those days just relaxing at a beach nearby!
