Given the hustle and bustle of our modern day lifestyle, a sophisticated timepiece that allows us to efficiently manage all our to-do’s, is an absolute essential. We were particularly excited about the collection of Skagen watches from Watch Republic. Named after a Danish seaside village, Skagen is known for their minimalist aesthetic and contemporary innovation.
Since we run a 100% digital publication and have a self-confessed tech geek heading up our team, we had to have a closer look at their modern-day creations, offering so much more than run-of-the-mill timepieces.
Skagen’s Hybrid Smartwatches
Given the convenience and ease that they bring, technological devices can be a tremendous blessing- especially Skagen’s hybrid smartwatches. The Skagen Hald Connected Hybrid Smartwatch is their first wearable created exclusively for women, and offers an assortment of advanced features within the structure of a traditional watch. As you’ll see, it can be very handy during many situations that might find yourself in.
For instance, you may not always have your smartphone with you to receive vital notifications. Luckily, this smartwatch will send notifications via haptic vibrations on your wrist, keeping you updated when selected contacts call, text or email you. You could alternatively, be caught up in a meeting while waiting on a very important call. In this case, this smartwatch can tell you when the call is coming through, saving you the trouble of constantly watching your phone.
You can even check that you’re keeping up with your health goals, as it records your step count and water intake, by linking to an iOS and Android-enabled app. This smartwatch also allows you to control your music as you run errands. If you like, you can snap a selfie while you’re at it. What’s more, the smartwatch automatically rectifies the date and/or time when you travel into a different time zone, giving you one less thing to worry about while you’re on a long-haul journey.
However, if you’re not a techie or are undelighted by the idea of extra features on your wrist, move straight on to their non-hybrid watches. Here are a few of our personal favourites:
Skagen’s Non-Hybrid Watches
With its pastel-hued teal strap, this watch would be the perfect addition to round off a feminine, springtime ensemble. Its stainless steel bezel, featuring the ever-so pretty rose gold shade, will no doubt steal the trendy fashionista’s heart.
Because the word “gitte” means “radiant” in Danish, this watch couldn’t have been more aptly named. Containing glitzy gold hands, its oversized case makes it the ideal option for the glamazon who aims to make a statement with her accessories.
Simple yet chic, this watch boasts neutral tones together with a touch of sparkle on its crystal indexes. A staple item in the classic girl’s wardrobe, it can be worn with nearly anything from a corporate suit to a jeans and T-shirt combo.
Sporting a deep, blue-grey shade, an attention-grabbing trait of this watch is its sandblast dial. The androgynous dresser, who fearlessly embraces unconventional fashion choices, will be taken with its subtle aura of masculinity.
