This summer, we take our design cues from the faraway and engage all our senses with the exotic. We’re bringing the outdoors in and filling our spaces with an abundance of nature’s own botanicals.
This is a more laid-back summer, with its Mediterranean and Moroccan-inspired blues and greens. But what’s this warmer season without a little vibrance? Well, you’ll find it in fleur or trellis prints/patterns and those inspired by nature’s own forms!
For many, the bedroom is a sanctuary, a space to indulge in the lush and elegant. Introduce blue-hued bedding and ikat scatter cushions inspired by ethnic prints and textures. And finish off the space with an on-trend reading chair and handwoven rug.
Adorn your living spaces with North African-inspired ceramics and floor cushions and add character or contrast with the woven and textured – dhurrie rugs and baskets. Take it one step further and consider a coffee table topped with a hammered steel tray (an object so synonymous with Moroccan culture) – a great way to serve some exotic teas and coffees!
Speaking of coffees, we highly recommend you get your hands on the latest Nespresso gadget, the Pixie Clips. It comes with interchangeable panels so you can switch between white and coral to fit your mood and style!
Mirrors are the new art. Introduce a little drama with a gallery wall of different shapes, sizes and frames. Or keep it informal by stacking them up along the floor. They’ll not only create the illusion of more space, but also give you the opportunity to play with more exotic patterns and finishes.
And now that you have the look down, why not welcome in more of the outdoors with delicious natural scents. Lay diffusers and oil burners out across the home and take in the subtle smells of vanilla, cotton and more.
