When you celebrate your wedding day in the South Africa during the month of February, you’re sure to have heaps of warmth and sunshine. Werner and Petri tied the knot at the quaint and romantic Olive Mystery on a hot summer’s day, but their colour scheme reflected cool tones of milky green and touches of soft, vintage and feminine detail that gave the day an everlasting charm. Petri looked just as timeless in her hand-picked Pronovias gown which fitted her like a glove. We love the sleek yet romantic hairstyle that complimented her attire whilst Werner and his grooms men looked the part of true gentlemen in the English countryside. Louise Vorster was the official photographer of the day.
We met through mutual friends, his best friend married one of my friends and now the four of us are inseparable. We dated for almost 2 years after which medicine and accounting clashed and we went our separate ways. God had other plans and after 3 years, when we saw each other again we instantly knew “this was it”.I was welcomed by hundreds of candles and millions of rose petals to a surprise picnic-dinner in the garden, when I returned home from work one evening.
“Halleluja” performed by Petri’s brother and my brother-in-law during the Church service which was second only to when Petri walked into the Chapel on Goo Goo Dolls’ Iris played by a string quartet led by one of our close friends when I saw her for the first time.
The moment my father removed the veil, and I saw Werner struggling to keep his emotions under control – I knew this would be the best day of my life.
From the start we decided on a more vintage-old-school-classic-feel, and it was then fun to go to paces like Ducan Yard and the Vintage fair for ideas and inspiration. It is also easier when paging through the vast amount of wedding magazines out there to know what feel you are looking to achieve, to eliminate certain ideas and get inspired by others. Petri is very creative, which rubbed off on most of our ideas for the wedding. For our engagement shoot we used a 1960’s Ford Fairlane together with my mother’s wedding dress that was altered, to create a truly Vintage look. We tried to carry that through to the wedding which reflected our nostalgic and romantic personal styles
