The hustle and bustle of Cape Town’s CBD showed its softer side for PC and Corrine visiting the city as their dream honeymoon destination. They headed to the Castle of Good Hope with photographer Yolandé Marx and from there explored the “Bo-Kaap” and finished with some romantic shots at their lovely hotel, Cape Cadogan. We love the glamorous and chic look of Corrine’s glamorous attire against the urban backdrop and without a doubt she must have received so many admiring glances as they ventured through the streets of the Mother City.

The couple met at work, quickly became friends and it gave them the platform to know each other without pressure. Soon after that they started dating and the rest is history. On 7 June this year, they got married in Singapore on the beautiful island resort of Sentosa, in a glass pavilion surrounded by lush greenery where they exchanged their vows to be husband and wife and to this day it remains the most glorious and happy day of their lives.

Did the shoot have a theme or were you inspired by a certain memory or experience?

We just got married and were visiting Cape Town for the first time for our honeymoon. The idea of a shoot was inspired by a friend who suggested that we bring our wedding attire to Cape Town and do a photo shoot in the city. While visiting the Castle of Good Hope on the second day of our trip, we fell in love with the view of the mountain from the castle, and PC had the great idea of asking Yolandé to do part of the shoot there. This was especially exciting for us as there are no castles in our home city, Singapore. Bo-Kaap was suggested by Yolandé, and we liked it because of the many coloured buildings, and the fact that it is a unique Cape Town residential neighbourhood. We also chose to have part of the shoot at the Cape Cadogan Hotel where we were staying.

How did he pop the question?

We got engaged in Fez, Morocco at a beautiful Riad. It was after a rooftop candle-light dinner overlooking the FEZ Medina (the old city). Under a dark sky lit with stars, in a very private and romantic setting, PC took the moment to propose to me. It was a very joyful and touching experience.

When did you know it was love ?

Corinne: When PC and I became friends, he was very warm and friendly. He reached out to me and I found it really easy and fun to talk to him. There was a sense of happiness and comfort. I don’t really know when but each day that I spent with PC got better and better. Life with PC was just better. I always looked forward to being with him and time always went too quickly when we were together.
PC: Corrine had a wonderful sincere smile that left an everlasting impression on me. She is a kind hearted and beautiful person. The more time I spent with Corrine, the more my instincts were telling me she is the right person for me, and I simply had to ask her out. One of our earliest dates was on a bum boat ride along the Singapore River, and I guessed I kind of knew then.

How To – Smouldering Eyes for Winter

When we think of the traditional smokey eye, colours in a darker palette like browns, greys and black usually comes to mind. We’ve decided to use the basic technique of achieving a smokey eye, but instead of the dark colours we opted for a combination of copper, brown and cranberry eye-shadows to create a warm winter look. With Ida Webster’s help we’ve put together an easy, step-by-step tutorial for this shimmering smokey eye make-up look, that you can try at home.
