The Quest for The Perfect Wedding Guest Outfit.

August 28, 2012 by

Being invited to a wedding is such an honour; from receiving a gorgeous invite in the post to choosing a delicious meal from the wedding reception menu, but most of all, it’s the knowledge that you have been picked out as one of the special people in the couple’s lives that makes being a wedding guest so wonderful.

A friend or family member tying the knot is a joyous occasion, but many of us dread the idea of finding an outfit for the happy event.

To dispel all your outfit-related worries, I made a beeline for La Redoute to track down the best dresses for guests and bridesmaids, to make sure you sparkle!

Celeb Inspired

Take a leaf out of the stunning ZooeyDeschanel‘s book and opt for a gold brocade number.Team with black tights, nude lip and loose hair to stop it looking too formal.

If it’s hot outside, bring some tropical fun to the event, just like Cat Deely, with a fruity printed dress.  Thanks to the bright print you can afford to opt for a more serious up-do. Consider a stylish bun, simply ponytail or elaborate chignon.

Go Demure

Just because you don’t want to flash the flesh, it doesn’t mean you have to look dull. A brightly-coloured dress like this mauve number offers both coverage and style, and the belted waist will still show off your figure.

The Long and Short of It

If you have a certain area of your body that you are not confident about, there is an option out there for you. If your legs aren’t your favourite feature, for example, opt for an ethereal maxi dress in an eye-catching colour.

If, on the other hand, you radiate confidence, why not go for this short, strappy number in sunshine yellow or attention-grabbing coral pink?

Now all you need to do is enjoy the big day!

C’mon Summer

Here in South Africa summer is just around the corner. To update your summer wardrobe make sure you visit La Redoute for this season’s statement pieces. At La Redoute you will also find fabulous women’s clothing, menswear, childrenswear, lingerie, plus-size clothing and homeware.

I agree, it is an absolute honour and privilege to be invited to a wedding, so ,Please oh PLEASE ,do NOT wear black clothes to weddings!!! It is supposed to be a joyous occasion.! See for yourself the difference in the photographs! And remember white is for the Bride only.

I disagree with guests wearing black at weddings – it can look really elegant and I’ve done it on a number of occasions and haven’t been the only one – especially for evening weddings, a little black number can really work if you bring in colour with pashmina’s and colourful shoes. I actually wore a black wedding dress for my wedding last month and the photographs look amazing and it was a really joyous occasion. White is not the only option for Brides :-)

Family and Kids

Girly pink pony party

On the 1st of March, Milla was showered with love from friends and ponies alike. It was a special occasion to celebrate her 8th birthday and I can see in the sweetly happy smiles of the girls, the ponies (pink and real) were as much a part of the fun as the girls themselves. Although mother Theunette Heinlein has her own events company, she couldn’t have created the lovely day without Milla’s great love for horses and intuitive knack for matching vintage teal and pink. It gave the pony party a unique atmosphere that the girls adored.
