We recently met up with the phenomenal Joy Proctor, a wedding stylist and coordinator from Santa Barbara in the US. I have been admiring Joy’s work for some time, so it was so wonderful to meet her in person on her visit to South Africa. Joy’s work has graced the pages of many magazines and blogs, and she was also the stylist for the cover of the Style Me Pretty book. Joy is thinking of spreading her wings and doing more work in South Africa. So if you are looking for the best of the best, then you should get in touch with Joy.We were absolutely thrilled when Joy offered this gorgeous shoot, that she did with Emme Wynn Photography, to us. We love the softness and natural feel of this look. Joy says she was inspired by the the historic architecture of the
Santa Barbara area, and paired it with soft, chic elements for a feminine look. The colour palate of peach and seafoam green was the perfect choice to top off the neutral stucco backdrop of the El Presidio Chapel, the oldest church in the Santa Barbara area. To keep the look organic, Joy added elements of herbs such as mint and rosemary to the peach tulips in the bride’s bouquet. The bride wore a seeded eucalyptus wreath for her head to play up the whimsical nature of the great Claire Pettibone gowns she wore. As a further nod to the natural, garden feel so integral to Santa Barbara, Lazaro Press created a soft garden rose and succulent invitation suite. Thanks for inspiring us Joy, this is an absolute feast for the eye.
