Oh, how do I love this wedding, let me count the ways … Beyers and Isa had such a gorgeous wedding. The floral-filled venue and surroundings were simply beautiful and the details were thoughtfully and fabulously styled. And let’s not forget the stunning couple.Beyers and his gorgeous bride, Isa, took the trip down the aisle in January this year. This couple likes doing things a little differently, like Beyers hiding Isa’s ring in the fridge to propose and going on a 800 km hike for their honeymoon … This was no different when they planned their big day.
The two decided on a botanical-inspired celebration. The natural look seemed like the perfect fit for their personalities, easygoing and original. But let’s get back to the details for a minute. I know, I know, weddings are about saying “I do” and the rest doesn’t really matter that much. But I agree with Keats who said that “A thing of beauty is a joy forever”! And at Beyers and Isa’s wedding there were many, many beautiful things to swoon over. We are loving all the wooden elements, the textured linen and the abundance of exotic plants. A big thank you to photographer Jacki Bruniquel for sending this gem my way.
Tell us your love story …
I have been working with Beyers for the last eight years as a chef and general manager in one of his guesthouses in Bloemfontein. We have know each other for eight years but have only become close friends about four years ago and the rest as they say is history.
So how did he pop the question?
I expected that the question would be asked at some stage but did not expect it on the day I was asked. Me being a chef, Beyers decided to surprise me by unpacking the whole fridge the night before and placing the wedding ring in the middle of the fridge. The fridge has glass drawers so it looked very impressive, just this empty glass fridge with the only thing in it being the ring. When I opened the door I was shocked to see the empty fridge and then the ring, the next moment he was next to me on his knee and asked me to get married.
Did your wedding preparations include any DIY projects?
The wedding stationery and some of the linen for the table décor we did ourselves.
