Every New Year welcomes us with a clean slate, a new beginning and fresh start to an endless list of resolutions and goals. This year we wanted to kick into first gear with a blank canvas, focusing on less is more. For this reason the theme of our monthly styled editorial, features only core essentials and simple elegance. Speaking of elegance, we were privileged enough to have Mrs SA, Chané de Kock and her doting husband Stefanus pose as our models for the shoot. They’ve been married for 10 years, so the concept of a vow renewal shoot perfectly complemented our January theme of “New Beginnings.” The talented Christine Meintjes captured this beautiful story at the much favoured Kleinevalleij.

Every story has an end, but in life every ending is just a new beginning.

How To – Smouldering Eyes for Winter

When we think of the traditional smokey eye, colours in a darker palette like browns, greys and black usually comes to mind. We’ve decided to use the basic technique of achieving a smokey eye, but instead of the dark colours we opted for a combination of copper, brown and cranberry eye-shadows to create a warm winter look. With Ida Webster’s help we put together an easy, step-by-step tutorial for this shimmering smokey eye make-up look, that you can try at home.
