For some time now, we’ve been admiring the creations of designer Gabi Rosenwerth and her team Stephan van Eeden and Hugo Fleur. Recently they teamed up with photographer Debbie Lourens at their beautiful shop in Claremont to shoot their latest collection of gorgeous ready-to-wear garments. The notorious brand was started by Elzbieta Rosenwerth back in 1961.  Gabi joined in 1980 and eventually took over Rosenwerth 15 years ago. Known for their couture creations, they decided to bring out a ready-to-wear range that would be more accessible to her everyday fans and shoppers. We love the versatile, chic and timeless outfits that will certainly make staple pieces in any modern day woman’s wardrobe.

Describe your collection.

The ‘Ready-to-Wear’ summer 2013/14 is a versatile range of linen. Pigment dyed, mixed with cotton and cotton ribbing, which creates a very specialized and very textured look, for the woman of today who wants to look hip and happening with the most of ease. Our couture range is more soft and feminine and a big favourite amongst our clients.
We design for an international woman who demands a modern system of dressing, she travels, she is social, she is hard working and successful, she recognizes quality and we as a brand provides the wardrobe she needs.

What inspires your designs and do you have a favourite fabric or material that you love to work with?

Many things have influenced the designs of our collections. Nature, colours, movies, people, but the one most influential thing is the fast changing and demanding lifestyle of the world today. I love working with natural fabrics, silks, cottons, linens and it keeps changing, but I guess chiffons are still my favourite.

How To – Smouldering Eyes for Winter

When we think of the traditional smokey eye, colours in a darker palette like browns, greys and black usually comes to mind. We’ve decided to use the basic technique of achieving a smokey eye, but instead of the dark colours we opted for a combination of copper, brown and cranberry eye-shadows to create a warm winter look. With Ida Webster’s help we put together an easy, step-by-step tutorial for this shimmering smokey eye make-up look, that you can try at home.
