Christmas was everything we hoped it to be (and Seven Swans truly hope you and your loved ones had a superly blessed day filled with lots of yummies, great company and a few pressies!), and now the next big event on our calendar is New Year’s Eve!

As children, we always spent the days following Christmas lounging around the pool. Thinking back at this carefree time it conjures up memories of bright
coloured cold drinks, slices of cold watermelon and the smell of freshly cut grass.
Traditionally my family has mainly celebrated Christmas Eve – usually an intimate dinner with our very small family. We love opening gifts under the sparkling tree and its rarely been a big affair. However in a last minute decision we’re hosting our very first Christmas Day luncheon – complete with a whole pig, turkey and goose!
I love baking, and this year I’m going to make some of my gifts rather than buy them. We see many friends and family members over the festive season, but there’s no way that we can buy every single one a gift. So I would rather make something pretty that everyone, even children, can enjoy.
Oh, it is such an existing time of year! Yes, Bony M is blaring and the rush is on, while the prices hike sky high and the smell of mince pies follow you wherever you go. BUT also, love and goodwill is in the air as families gather and loved ones draw nearer. I love it!
It’s tradition that has always made Christmas special for me. Every year I follow the same festive schedule of tree decorating, carolling and various other holiday activities. One such holiday activity that is dear to my heart is our annual Christmas Cookie Exchange. This relatively new tradition was started a few years ago within my close-knit circle of friends and we’re still keeping the spirit alive this weekend.
We received another beautiful newsletter earlier this week, this time form Leipzig Floral Design. Like I mentioned yesterday, I just love it when beautiful things land in my inbox! The girls at Leipzig made the most beautiful inspiration boards using the images they found on 100 Layer Cake.
