Today we feature a very special couple shoot, that of sweet Carla who has been with us for the past year. Carla and her husband Neethling will be moving to Johannesburg next week. They lived in Cape Town in a cosy flat in the heart of Cape Town, for the past three years. Before they made their way to the other side of the country, they decided to capture their first home (and their life in Cape Town) together.
I recently needed to buy 200 bagels for a market where I showcased the trout products of my brother-in-law’s trout farming business. I filled them with cold-smoked trout and cream cheese, and they “flew” from my table. During this process, I realised that these beautiful rolls-with-holes weren’t so easy to find.
For today’s shop tour we head to the hottest new food destination in Linden, Johannesburg. The Whippet is the brainchild of three young entrepreneurs, Divan, Roelita and Jaco who share a passion for South Africa, coffee, people and the city of Johannesburg.
You might have noticed the name annaH. from time to time in some of our recent blog entries, but today we properly introduce and welcome Anneke Roux from annaH. styling to our rapidly expanding Pretty Blog family. Anneke’s valuable experience in editorial styling and talent as a floral and décor stylist (gained at Leipzig), makes her the perfect go-to-girl for visual guidance and advice when planning your big day.
Even if you are not a shoe lover, you won’t be able to resist falling in love with the gorgeous bright red shoes featured in today’s real wedding. Bride Abigail opted for red heels with a big bow on each shoe, to go with her gorgeous knee length vintage wedding dress. She also went for more unconventional bridesmaids’ outfits, which we totally love by the way.
We recently met up with the phenomenal Joy Proctor, a wedding stylist and coordinator from Santa Barbara in the US. I have been admiring Joy’s work for some time, so it was so wonderful to meet her in person on her visit to South Africa. Joy’s work has graced the pages of many magazines and blogs, and she was also the stylist for the Style Me Pretty Book cover.
