Oh goodie, it is almost the long weekend! For our international readers, over in sunny South Africa (yay for being spoilt with lovely Spring days lately!) we are celebrating Heritage Day on Monday. On this day all South Africans indulge in lazy outdoor meals as the tradition is that the day is “Braai Day” (BBQ Day). Having it fall on a Monday means that most of us will be spending the entire weekend making meals on open fires out in the sunlight. YAY!
Bianca shared ideas on what to wear, Food Fox showed us a yummy salad that I cannot wait to try, and today we are sharing some printables and an easy-as-pie DIY to brighten up dessert. Of course, in this weather, we will be serving up big heaps of ice cream in crunchy sugar cones. Seven Swans created some labels and cone wrappers which you can print at home. Our food idol, Donna Hay also inspired this cute ice cream tray. Our friend, Annari from Nelle Cakes helped us whip it up in a jiffy. Just turn the bottom part of a egg tray upside down and cut some holes for the cones to slot into. Cover up with a bit of wax paper and voila!
To get you in the summer lovin’ mood we also created a summer mix tape. Being Heritage Day we thought it would be fun to keep it local, so our mix tape is filled up with only South African talent. You can listen to it by clicking on this link: Summer playlist on 8tracks Radio.
PS. A huge big thank you to Yolande Marx for taking the pretty pretty pics!
