Let them eat cake! {DIY Cake Toppers}

April 18, 2013 by
There are so many occasions where beautiful cakes are needed – baby showers, birthdays, engagement parties and weddings to name a few. But, really, who actually needs an excuse to decorate and eat delicious cake? Why not celebrate the small things too? At Seven Swans we like to live in a world where even the fact that it’s a Thursday (or any day really) is reason enough for cake and pretties!
We thought it would be fun if you were able to create your own little scenes on top of your yummy cake – or even just use one or two decorations to pretty-up a cupcake. Enjoy mixing and matching our designs to get your perfect look and then sit back, relax and enjoy some yummy treats – yay!
A huge thank you to the lovely Annari from Nelle Cakes who whipped up this amazing cake for us, Birdcage in Stellenbosch for the cupcakes, to Lindy Truter for the photos and to The Pretty Blog team for the awesome styling! Have lots of fun!

        Wondering if the flowers were real or imitation?
        Thanks for the wonderful post!

        Hi Raquel
        The flowers were fresh from Flowers in the Foyer in Stellenbosch.

        Hi :)
        Thank you for the quick response.
        I would like to attempt this, but figured that fresh flowers may be an issue since it may wilt or the pollen may get to the top of the cake.
        What kind are these?

        Many thanks again from Canada!

        Hi Raquel

        The flowers are called “Tuber Roses”. Hope you can find them in Canada.

        Thanks again for your quick response. I printed these out, but found it came out much more faded than yours. I printed it on regular print paper. Perhaps cardstock paper would be be better? As mentioned, your colours look more vibrant and stand out, especially the wordings as well.
        Any suggestions? Much appreciated.
