We end this week with Lucas and Lauren’s simple, rustic wedding. They said their vows on a hot summer’s day in front of 300 guests. Lucas opted for a relaxed informal affair and made many of the decorations themselves.
We love Lauren’s beautiful lace dress and her summery pink bouquet. The bridal party also caught our eye, we’re loving the chic mismatched bridesmaid’s dresses.

Tell us your love story…
We knew each other a year before we started dating. We were friends and Lucas asked me on our first date March 2011 and we officially began dating June 4, 2011. Lucas proposed on New Years Eve and the rest is history. Lucas makes me so happy! I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect husband. We love to laugh, watch movies, and cook together.
What were the highlights of your wedding day?
The highlight for me was when I was just about to walk down the isle, making my way around the corner and saw for the first time all of the decorations and all of our friends and family standing and waiting for me. Lucas was at the front waiting for me with a big smile on his face. It hit me that everything had come together perfectly and I was about to marry my best friend. It was a great feeling.
Any advice for brides-to-be?
Don’t stress. Easier said than done, but in the end everything will get done and it may not go exactly like you planned but at the end of the day you are married to the love of your life.
Did anything unexpected happen?
We had a small mishap when some of our cupcakes got knocked off the tier onto the floor and a glass vase got cracked 20 minutes before the ceremony, but other than that it went smoothly.
Where did you get most of your ideas and inspiration from?
Pinterest! Thank goodness for Pinterest!
What was the biggest obstacle you had to overcome while organising your dream wedding?
I love everything, so it was hard to choose certain things I liked for example the decor, colors, flowers and have them go along with the theme. Lucas had to rein me in a time or too.
Any time saving or organising tips?
Don’t wait until the last minute for anything. Get your friends involved. we had a group of friends come over to my house several times and help fill out wedding invitation addresses and help make decorate our mason jars for the ceremony. and make lists. it feels so good checking off things you get accomplished!
Any hints for other brides on how to keep your wedding budget friendly?
DIY it! There were a lot of decorations we made ourselves that saved us a bunch of money.
Did your wedding preparations include any DIY projects?
Yes, we made all of our center pieces. we bought a ton of mason jars and decorated them with lace and put small rocks and candles inside. We bought an arch at hobby lobby and strung lights on them. and Lucas collected picket fence and lined it against several windows and strung lights on them to give the wedding a rustic look.
