Early last month Carla and I made our way to Bloemfontein for the very first Kamers vol Geskenke in this city. It was a first for us too, as it was the first time that we attended an event as an exhibitor. Very excited and a little scared we prepared for four days of inspiration and festiveness. We were not disappointed. The turnout was great, with approximately 5000 people making their way through the gates!
Now let me tell you, I had no idea exactly how much time, effort and hard work goes into a major event like this. The organisers and exhibitors worked for days to get everything set-up and ready. Our seafoam coloured stall was in the corner of the main venue, and we had some wonderful “neighbours”. Mariaan from MStudio, who you know as one of our DIY contributors, had the stall next to us. They sold beautiful stationery, badges, bowties and other gorgeous goodies. On the other side was Karin from Tic Tac Toe, with her gorgeous baby clothing range. Oh my, I nearly left Bloemfontein with a pair of floral reversible baby booties. They were so pretty! Instead I indulged in a few items from the girls from Two on Toast. Apart from some personal shopping, we also had the chance to meet a bunch of other incredible designers and creatives. It was such and exhilarating and inspirational experience.
So some of you might wonder what exactly we were doing at Kamers, as we do not really sell as product. Well, this year Kamers is celebrating “Wonderful Women”. So we decided to give back a little. We built a photobooth (from scratch), where all the wonderful women (and men, of course) could have their picture taken as a little keepsake for the event. And we were really surprised that literally young and old were so keen to take part!
But for us the best part was meeting some of our loyal readers, and introducing The Pretty Blog to people that have not heard from us before. The friendly people was so welcoming and really interested to find out more about the blog. So next up is Kamers vol Geskenke at Lourensford Somerset-West.
