Decor Tuesday is back! We apologise for the little break, but we needed some time to find a few more gorgeous spaces to showcase, and Carla-who takes charge of the decor shoots- also took a much needed break. But not to worry we have some gorgeous homes and shops lined up for you in the next few weeks.
Today we bring you a brand new eatery in Gardens, Cape Town called Tamboers Winkel. We caught up with Theo van Niekerk to tell us more about this little gem. Theo started his restaurant career at Carlyles on Derry in Vredehoek as a barman and later manager and have been in the food industry now for over 10 years

Why did you decide to open your own food shop?
I have always been encouraged by my friends and family to open up my own restaurant and have been working towards achieving that goal for a long time. My grandparents had a farm in the Eastern Free State called “Vorentoe” and I spent many weekends on the farm, especially in the kitchen. I wanted to re-create that warm and friendly environment.
When you walk into Tamboers Winkel you will find…
Free range rotisserie chickens and eggs. Charcuterie & Cheese Fresh healthy salads and sandwhiches Deluxe Coffee Olives, Olive oil and preserves And hopefully in the near future Wine and Beer
My personal style is best described as…
Farmstyle hospitality
I am inspired by…
Our South African culture. We are a strong, hard working, inovative and adaptive people. I am also inspired by all farmers, I believe that to be the toughest profession. You have to be a master of all trades and have a work ethic next to none!
