I love anything to do with food {especially eating}, collecting pretty things, nesting, afternoon naps, reading and pinning. I am terrible at any kind of needle work, and I secretly envy those who can knit, sew and crochet. Freshly picked jasmin makes me happy. If I could choose my last meal on earth it, would be warm ciabatta bread with lashings of butter.
Cheesy as it sounds we met on an online dating site and hit it off, and now here we are planning our wedding for 23 February 2013- a year today!

Nico, my fiancé, and I met at a restaurant…but in the ‘it only happens in movies’ kind of way… you see, we were not set up on a blind date nor did we meet through mutual friend at a get together in that restaurant…nope, we met completely by coincidence (or god’incedence as I like to call it).
6 years ago, Nico, his brother and Dad decided to have a ‘boys night’ to discuss some business plans. The place they chose happened to be the restaurant I was a waitress at. So many things fell into place that night that made the encounter possible, that could so easily have been different.
They could have chosen another restaurant, they could have decided to not wait for a table for almost 30min, they could have not been seated in my table area that I was servicing, they could have had enough change for the tip that started the conversation that ended in me giving Nico my number in exchange for keeping the change that would be a considerably large tip, I could have given him a wrong number like I do with most guys that hit on the waitress…but it all fell into place that night. Neither of us ever imagined that we would meet our future spouses that day.
In the days that followed we chatted via SMS and made a coffee date a few weeks later. 6 years ago over coffee, a shared cheesecake and considerable flirting, we fell in love and became best friends and will now become Husband and Wife in August 2012

He was friends with my friend’s brother, who I shared a flat with in London. He happened to be at the same restaurant I was having drinks at with my friend, they hadn’t seen each other in years. We got chatting and the rest is history…. We got engaged at the Taj Mahal in January, a moment I will never forget!

I’m marrying my best friend and soul mate…how lucky am I?

Oh my gosh well I don’t know if this is very romantic, but I met my fiance 8 years ago. He was dating a girl I went to school with which is how we got to know each other. After they broke up after a very short relationship (in my defense!), he expressed his undying love for me. We were both 18 at the time :)

I met the love of my life when I was 2 years old as our dads worked together and our parents were friends. We hadn’t had contact for quite a while and as adults, I saw his picture in an online article about his tattoo’s while I was in London and just had to contact him. We made plans to meet up when I visited Cape Town. We met, I fell in love, and moved back to Cape Town and we’re now planning our wedding. The rest, as they say, is history!

Steven (my fiance) and I actually went to school together from age 11. We were never really part of the same crowds and when he came back from England in 2009 we just immediately clicked and we just knew we were meant to be. We’ve only been dating a year then we got engaged. It’s been almost another year already but it still feels the same as the first day together! We’ve been through A LOT of ups and downs regarding previous relationships and other personal stories but the fact that we already knew that about each other made everything so much more perfect!

Absolutely LOVE this idea and would LOVE to win this prize, we originally met when we were young children and then again years later on a hike in Namibia. We didn’t think much of each other at first but we kept meeting up and now we are Inseparable, Young and In-love.

A weekly visit to my sister at her work on a Friday when I was going home from koshuis for the weekend, she thougt it good to introduce me to the new guy at her office. Seeing that me and him both are keen squash players to maybe organise a game or two. We made a deal that who ever loses the game had to buy the other one a drink afterwards. Nothing more “Romantic” than enjoying a beer with a special person and chatting the night away – needles to say this then became a weekly ritual 5 years going on and it’s still my favourite thing to do!

We met at my cousin’s house! My cousin had always mentioned me to his friends and the one day my fiance’ told my cousin to invite me over. I beat my cousin to it though as I had phoned him just then and invited myself over to his house. I met my fiance and we hit it off, we chatted to the early hours of the next morning, he didn’t want to take me home. After they did take me home the next morning, my fiance stole my number from my cousin’s phone and the rest is history! Some things are just meant to be.

This is such a stunning prize and I have a stunning story to tell!!I started teaching in Franschhoek in 2009.On a Sunday evening I went to Pick n Pay and saw this guy and thougt Pick n Pay is the place to be on a Sunday evening!;) Never saw him again and September 2010 my sister and I went to a local dance held in Franschhoek every year.I was in a long-distance relationship at the time but went to the dance to meet people from Franschhoek!I saw this guy and he was with people I knew,I realised he is the guy I saw in Pick n Pay!We talked, danced and enjoyed the evening! The Monday I received a text from him asking if myself and a girlfriend would like to come for supper at his house. We became (just) good friends and in January 2011 I broke up with my long-distance boyfriend (because of distance not working out for us) and my friend immediately took his chance and started dating me,he asked me to be his girlfriend on 15 February 2011.He took me away on a weekend to Paternoster and on 9 December 2011 he went on one knee and asked me to marry him!!:) He is the man of my dreams and I still can’t believe how everything has just worked out for us to be together! The guy I eyed in Pick n Pay became my fiance!!:) We are getting married on 15 September 2012 and we can’t wait!!x

My fiancé and I met about 5 years ago. He just returned from London and was working in marketing. I started to work for the same company and had my eye on him from day one! I invited him to the movies, for coffee….. I even ask him to come and help me with my computer just to get his attention… But nothing! Net even a hint that he likes me too. Finely I gave up and decided what will be, will be! One day out of the blue he ask me if I would like to go and have a coffee after work…. And from there everything just started to fall in place. We had our ups and downs…but in the end I got my happily ever after and we are getting married 14 July 2012

I was friends with his brother since high school, but didn’t meet him until 2 years ago. I had just ended a 9 year relationship and went to a friend’s birthday party and he was there – since he was the only person I didn’t know, I spent most of the party chatting to him, because I didn’t want to talk about my recent break-up (2 days earlier) – apparently I made an impression, but he thought that I was still in a relationship, so didn’t make a move. We then saw each other for the 2nd time at his brother’s wedding – spent the whole night talking on the balcony and have been inseparable since. Getting married in August 2012 :-)

My fiance and I are getting married on the 2nd of Feb 2013! We are SO excited!! We knew each other for about 2 years before we started dating but not very well… I met him through a friend and one day he asked me out, i said “it’s not a no”… he clearly took it as a yes!! He pursued me and before I knew it we were dating! I’ve never been so glad, he’s the love of my life and the only person whose ever known every detail about me! He’s too special and amazing for words… they don’t do him justice :)

I met my fiance at work one day and we didn’t speak much. Time went by and we never saw each other again, then a few weeks later for a strange reason we kept bumping into each other. But with our luck each time we once again didn’t have enough time to have a conversation. I got fed up because I really wanted to talk to him and I got his phone number from a friend and contacted him. He immediately asked me on a date and everything fell in place! Today I am so proud to be engaged to him and have the privilege to spend the rest of my life with him. We can’t wait for our wedding on the 12th January 2013 :)

I absolutely love this idea for wedding favours!
My fiance, Rieck, and I met through a mutual friend. My 16th birthday was coming up so our friend called me
and he was with Rieck. After chatting to our friend, Rieck took the phone and we started chatting. I
didn’t think much of it except the fact that he was a rugby player. But he had other plans as he sneakingly
took down my number from the phone. We started chatting (long hours on the phone and non stop sms’ing).
We had never met until 4 months later when I partnered our mutual friend to his matric dance and Rieck partnered
our mutual friend’s twin sister.
From then on Rieck tried his hardest to get me to be his girlfriend but I just wouldn’t budged. We remained friends for 3 years
After matric I went to stay in KZN and we lost contact. I returned a few months later. One day, I hear a car pull up
to our gate and to my surprise, it was Rieck, coming to ask my sister for my number and instead got me. It took me a few
months to admit to my feelings for him so I plucked up the courage to ask him out a few days after his birthday. I’m happy
to say we are together for 6 years and getting married on 31 August this year.

As I was celebrating then end of my university career (or so I thought), a handsome boy bought me a tequila, asking me if I would join them out that evening-he obviously didn’t think that I was that into him as he ended up smootching some other girl… Just before I gave up all hope, he called and took me to dinner During which my handbag was stolen! From sticky Tequilas at the Bowling Club, to stolen handbags on our first date to surprise proposals, we’ were meant to have met each other and cannot wait for the rest of our lives together :)

Chris & I met in October of 1999! I had just got into the biggest fight I have ever been in with my parents… the cops were called… I packed my bags & moved out (for the first time)… that’s how bad it was… I had taken all my stuff to my Aunt Darla’s, which is where I would stay for a few months until I got an apartment.
I was standing on a chair in the living room hanging a curtain over the door to the spare bedroom… or what we be my room now… I remember he walked in all huffy ( he was a friend of my Uncle Phil)… he had just lost his job! We were introduced & it was all over from there.
Everyday after that he showed up at my Aunt Darla’s… when I came home for lunch… he was there… when I came home from work he was there… It was the highlight of my day… and if he wasn’t there I called him and gave him a hard time. I loved him being there waiting for me… it was like nothing else was more important to him than me… he’s was/is an amazing man… by December of 1999 we were dating!
We’ve been through a lot over the course of the last twelve years, but through it all he’s remained my best friend in the whole world…
He popped the question in October of 2011! All people had to say was, it’s about time! =]
& a wedding newspaper would go nicely with the 1920′s themed wedding we are planning for August 2013!

I met my love for life through the modern internet dating site scene his short one sentence post was Voglio solo il mio coperchio – roughly translated to I’m just looking for the lid (for my pot) In afrikaans we say : elkeen het ‘n deksel vir hul potjie. I emailed back saying: Me to!!.
We emailed for 2 days, met for our first date on 28 Aug 2011 (sushi of course and with a friend as back up at home :-) ) went on our second date 29 Aug 2011 which included a walk on the beach and since then we have NEVER been appart.
I do believe in love at first sight but never thought that it could happen to a logical, analytical brain like mine. We’ll it was more love at first talk and all through our first 3 dates I just kept on asking how is he doing it and he would shrugg and just smile.
All I can say is that on the 11th of Dec 2011 he asked me to be his wife after just knowing him for 4 months but feeling as if I have known him for 4 years :-) I said YES and on the
9th of June 2012 I’m getting married to il mio amore per sempre (my love for ever)

Wedding Date: 27 April 2013
We both left our hearts and love ones in our beloved South Africa as we took on the cold and wet of London,UK.
It was there where we met. Two strangers, in a strange place, missing the warmth of home and the comfort of love.
We were just friends to each other in SA, but the connection that was felt in unknown, was a feeling not to be ignored. The feeling was mutual, but the magic was on ice. With hearts already given away, there was nothing to offer..
3years passed, we were back at home, where we left our hearts..I picked up her broken pieces and she picked up mine.
We glued it together as we swore our love to be forever.
This is our story, our love is divine.
Winning this great price will make our wedding just more PERFECT! Thanks for the opportunity Pretty Blog!

We initially met at a dance through mutual friends (my friends, but his brother and his friends, so I was part of the group of friends that his brother was part of). He asked me to dance and I really enjoyed it. Actually remember thinking that I liked his energy – very positive (and his gym build..), but did not like the blonde hair.
He asked for my number via my girlfriend, but I declined as I was not “into” blondes.
A year and a half later, I saw him at the gym (of which I was a new member) and said “hey aren’t you….?” To which he answered yes…and that was the start of our connection.
Our first non official date was a disaster as he invited myself and my girlfriend to join him and his guy friend….and then 40mins before the said time of the non official date, sms’d me to cancel…to which I abruptly responded that he will not do that to me…I have already done my make-up …to which he responded, “I can’t remember that we were already married”….Well, you can imagine how livid I was, so I decided to go anyway and meet up with his guy friend from the gym.
Shortly after I arrived, he then also arrived! So you can imagine how upset I was! In the end, his guy friend pleaded for him to join him, so he eventually did go and did not want to call me again, so just went…and from there , after buying me a drink, the rest is history!
We’re getting married on 28 April 2012!!

From what started as an “im not looking for anything serious” and a “neither am i” to now, more than 10 years later, we are here, planning our very special day! Its all still so surreal :)
I was at a nightclub in Cape town, i always used to trail off on my own and was standing at the bar watching everyone in their own little worlds.. I cant even say how, but suddenly there he was, my love… trying to get me to dance with his glowsticks.. It was hilarious..
After chatting and laughing for most of the night, eyeing each other from across the room, the night ended and that was that.
A whole year passed and while out with friends, he appeared… I still giggle at the subtle advances he made that night :) I couldnt tell if he was just resting his weight on his arm or if he was trying to wrap it around my waist. But one step further from the last time, he now left with my number… and a week after that… our first kiss!!!
It definately hasnt been an easy path travelled – there were many ups and downs and many times we thought we would never make it, many times most wouldve just given up..
Theres not a doubt in my mind though, that we were always meant to be…
In 9 months im going to marry my sweetheart, my best friend… that silly little boy that captured my heart all those years ago :)
I couldnt be happier!

It’s rather serendipitous really – Faried and I were in the same university class, majoring in exactly the same subjects for two years; but during those two years, we didn’t know who each other were, in fact, he always thought my name was Elaine, which is my friend’s name! So we went to separate firms to complete our traineeship after graduating – most of my friends went to the same firm that Faried signed up with while I went to another firm for my traineeship, so Faried got to become friends with most of my friends before he even knew me!
It wasn’t until 2 years later, when both of us were back at university, studying for our board exams – that one day – we were both eagerly waiting for one of our mutual friends to join us for lunch that we started chatting to each other. “Hi Elaine, we were in the same class together, do you remember me?” he asked. “Um, actually my name is Eva”, I laughed. And that’s how the ice was broken, and 5 months later we started dating. When my friends saw us together, they were all surprised as to why it hasn’t happen all those years until then.
It’s funny how life plays out sometimes – if it’s meant to be, it will eventually come to you.

From my Husband-to-be..
We first met in 2007 on Valentines Day, I remember this for a fact, because me and a couple of mates had this brilliant idea that going out on Valentines would ensure that we would only meet single ladies. Our plan could not falter, or so I thought…
We went out to a night club in Pretoria and had a really good time, but we weren’t having much luck with the ladies that night; and then I saw her..short funky hair, beautiful eyes and I knew; The night was about to change. I had to go speak to her so I gathered all the courage I could muster and went over to her. I introduced myself and we talked for a bit, me saying things like she is my soul mate and I am going to marry her and her saying things like she has a boyfriend, normal small talk stuff you know ;-)
I remember being very persuasive and drilling the fact that it’s Valentines and shes here instead of spending it with her boyfriend. I kept thinking my charms was starting to win her over, but meanwhile she was just trying to let me down gently, being the kind hearted woman that she is. After about an hour or so of really pulling my best moves and her rejecting every advance I am making I gave up and we parted ways..
Flash forward to about a week before Valentines day 2008. I went out with some school friends to the same night club, on our way out I walk past a varsity mate of mine and he convinces me to stay for another drink with them. So I went to get a drink and as I walk back to where they are standing I see this same girl I declared my undying love to standing with them. I remember trying to ignore her and act like I don’t know her, but as soon as she saw me she came over to me saying “Hey! Jys my trouman!”. The rest as they say is history..
We are now engaged to be married in November of this year!

My Fiancé is friends with my brother so we knew each other for a while, but nothing ever happened…Big brothers being little bit protective and all. At my brothers farewell (he was moving to London) my fiancé tried his luck and made a move but I played hard to get. Did so for two years while big brother was away…and finally I said yes to a date (2nd best yes ever). After three years of dating, on 20 August he asked me to spend the rest of our lives together and naturally I said YES!!!!! I can’t be happier and on 10 November 2012 we will share our love with friends and family. The newspaper will be the perfect way to tell our love story on such a special day…as this is just the overview…there is so much more to our happy ending!

What a super prize! I love the wedding newspaper idea, they are fun and creative and I had planned on making my own – but winning one would be wonderful! Almero and I are high school sweethearts.. we met in grade 7 when I moved from Tzaneen in the Transvaal to a small town called Villiersdorp here in the Cape.. we didn’t hit it off straight away – we actually kind-of despised one another.. I thought he was full of himself and he teased me constantly.. then we went to high school and everything changed.. we starting dating in grade 9 when he asked me out at a school “sokkie” and we have been in love ever since! On the 23rd of March we will have been together 12years! He asked me to marry him on the top of Kanonkop mountain and I said YES! We are getting married on the 10th of November this year and I am counting the days..

Nico and I met at a Chris Chameleon concert back in 2007 through mutual friends. We shared a common love for music and hit it off right away. After a few months of swapping CD’s Nico took me on our first ‘unofficial date’ to Kalk Bay and asked me if we could ‘Let the friendship grow’. Well who can say no to that! A few months later Nico had to spend over a month in hospital for a very serious operation as a result of his epilepsy. There was a chance he could die or become brain damaged! I visited him almost every day and the nurses watched us with great anticipation (we were still friends at this stage) like we were a juicy episode of Days of our Lives. One Friday afternoon I came to visit Nico and he had lots of wires connect to his head and was feeling quiet groggy….and I told him that I liked him and I wanted to be his girlfriend. Right there in the hospital, when he was looking his worst we started our relationship. Nico knew right then and there that he wanted to marry me.
Needless to say the operation was a success! We’ve been together almost 4 years now and we are hoping to tie the knot next year. :)

More than 6 years ago we met and went through the troubles of a long-distance relationship (more than a year). After the completion of his studies he moved to rainy Germany and stayed there for 2 years and now we are unbeliebably happy in SA since more than two years already. He proposed in Mauritius in July last year, asking my parents whether he could marry me in German (reading his notes on the toilet beforehand ;) ). We will say “I do” on 27th Oct 2012.

Adam and I actually met when we were 3! He was my cousin’s best friend at play school and when we used to go down and visit them on the South Coast, we all used to hang out and play as kiddies. After we were about 6, we all moved to Cape Town, went to different schools and lost touch. It was only 21 years later at our local hang out that I walked up to him and said hi. The party that we were at was a movie dress up. I was dressed as Daisy Duke form the Dukes of Hazard and Adam was dressed as William Wallace – quilt, painted face and all!!!!
When I first walked up to him I actually called him his brothers name – oops and then proceeded to argue with him about it. When he asked me for my number, I coyly told him that if he so badly wanted it he should have asked me for it 21 years ago.
He eventually got my number form a friend phoned me the next week and the rest as they say is history :)

Hello, my name is Krystle. My fiancé is Matthew. We met 5 and half years ago at a leaders retreat! Matthew was involved in a non-profit organization which took underprivileged kids on educational camps. My sister in-law told me about these camps and I was eager to get involved and see what it was all about! Before being a leader on one of these camps ,I had to attend a leader’s camp where they show you the ropes! I had heard about Matthew and was curious to see who this mysterious guy was! At the camp Matthew was showing new leaders how to tie down stuff on a trailer and when I arrived at his station I saw this handsome guy with milky skin and amazing blue eyes! I was so nervous and gosh no guy makes me nervous so this was a very weird feeling. We didn’t talk to much at camp and then I saw him again at a braai and then a week after that he smsed me and asked me out and I said no…not sure why…but anyway at our first camp we got talking and spent the whole weekend together and got on so well it felt like we were dating already. The Monday after the camp I saw him and we kissed for the first time outside his house :) and that became our anniversary. We said to each other we just want to have fun and after travelling to many different countries together living in South Korea and New Zealand together we are still together and engaged and will be married next year February. We are now back in South Korea for a year so I am planning my wedding from here so it would be awesome if I could win this amazing prize!!!!

My fiance and I met at a braai in Stellenbosch, in the quad of my residence. It was a clear, warm night in February, with that exciting buzz in the Eikestad air. She commented on my large star-shaped buckle, and I said, ‘ek sal vir jou die sterre wys’! The rest is history – we’ve been together 7 years, and are saying ‘I do’ in the Moedergemeente just down the road from where we met, on the 18th of August 2012.

My fiance and I met on a social website back in 2001. We were platonic for 7 years. Yep, I kept him in the friend zone! I was living in New York and he was away at college at University of Michigan. Our common interest was art. He was studying art history and I was working at an art gallery. As our friendship grew from afar we developed a bond that would turn into love. One day in 2007 I decided to buy a bus ticket to finally meet my long time friend. A this time he was now working in Ohio. After 12 long sleep deprived hours on a bus with a screaming baby, he finally picked me up from the bus station. I was so nervous to finally meet me virtual friend. As I walked towards him at the terminal, I could see his smile beaming from ear to ear. Then he said ” you’re beautiful”. I must have looked a mess, but that didn’t matter to him. What I realize now is that he had been in love with me for so long but never pressured me into a relationship. We got back to the car and then got lost on the way back to his place! It gave us more time to chat and get comfortable. The week I stayed with him was wonderful, we were instantly attached to each other. Needless to say we became couple from that meeting till now. I realized now that he was the friend I always had and the love I always needed. Later in the year he moved in with me and 4 years later we are planning our new life together as a married couple. Our love story was a decade in the making, and I am so happy to be marrying my best friend!

I met Jozef at a special wedding… He was the best man and I saw this handsome stranger standing next to the groom the whole time… I organised the bride’s kitchen key and at the reception, he had to give me a thank you card. Being a real best man, he asked me to dance with him… And by the end of the song, we knew! We’re getting married in March 2013 (hopefully) and we’re falling deeper in love each day!

My soon-to-be hubby and I met at a pub. At the time he was in the Navy and was out with all his Navy buddies, I was a student at Stellenbosch University and was home for the weekend and also decided to go out with old school friends – you can think for yourself that neither of us were looking for anything longterm (or a relationship at all for that matter!).
My best girl friend had met JP and his friends already and was interested in JP’s friend and wanted to introduce me to them, you know, for a second opinion. She introduced us and we hit it off immediately. Neither of us thought things would escalate so quickly. We were engaged 6 months later. He later told me that the day he saw me walk up the stairs with my friend he knew immediately he was going to marry me one day. He even nudged his friend when he saw me and told him “Daar is die vrou met wie ek gaan trou”. I don’t think I even stood a chance.

At university Cam parked outside my house everyday. Most days I was walking out of the gate as he arrived. He always smiled at me but never said a word. A few years later, a friend and I made a last minute decision to go out for a drink and a bit of a dance. Cam and I (literally) bumped into each other on the dance floor. We looked at each other and the smile that I knew so well spread across his face. The rest as they say is history.

We met at university, we shared a circle of friends and knew each other quite well. In our fourth year we spent more time together and became very good friends. That year we went on a wine tour with some other friends, and our friends kept on asking whether there was something going on… (there wasn’t at the time) seeing as we kept sharing inside jokes, and laughed the whole time. All the questioning must have planted a seed, as we both realised that we have a crush on each other… we have been dating 3 and a half years now, and I am happy to say that I am in love with my best friend.

Shane’s version of events:
2003-2004 Hannah stalked Shane through his final high school years
2005-2008 The stalking continued from a distance (stake-outs might have been involved)
2009 Shane fled to Thailand in an attempt to escape Hannah’s magnetic charm
2009 Hannah moved to Sweden in despair (much weeping!)
2010 Shane and Hannah officially met….finally!
2010 Hannah couldn’t resist Shane’s charm and started dating him
2011 Shane dropped to his knee, Hannah said “Ya Cool!”
2012 Shane and Hannah are getting married!!!
The Truth: (Hannah’s story)
Shane and Hannah met in 2010 through mutual friends. Shane followed Hannah around PE “bumping into her” at various events. Eventually, after numerous invitations, Hannah finally decided to go out with Shane(She thought he was pretty handsome).
…and then they fell in love!

In 2007 I got dumped by my then boyfriend who was a real dooshbag, at the time I thought my world was falling apart. Within 3 months I left for London on a 2 year working holiday, (what do they always say a change is as good as a holiday) On the first day I got there I met most of the housemates, lastly I met Marco!!!!!!! It turns out he stayed in the same province as me, (20min from where i live in Port Elizabeth) And he was friends with my cousin. Seeing that he also just got out of a bad relationship we became close friends, he use to show me around London seeing that he has been there for almost 2 years which meant that, that same year December his visa would expire and he had to go back to SA. We soon became inseperable and he even overstayed his visa for almost 2 YEARS all just for me.
We came back in 2009, got engaged in 2010 and are getting married next year!!!!! I cant wait. So i had to go all the way to London, to meet a guys that was only 20min drive away in my hometown, but i would do it all over again in a split second.

The story of our relationship, is a def one to be published in a newspaper. A story that will make everyone go aaahhhhh.
In a nutshell- and not to spoil the newspaper idea for our guests.
My current girlfriend was still in school and I was already in my 5th year of varsity, when she called and asked me to coach her and her squash team some squash.
I went to coach them for a few sessions, and each time my current girlfriend would purposly wear these short pink shorts that said Chicargo on her bottoms, little may I say that this grabbed my attention.
We started seen each other, and eventually she asked if I would come with her to her Matric dance. I really didnt want to go as I was already much older and already been there, done that.
I really liked this girl, so eventually i said to her I will go to your dance with you, only If i take you as my girlfriend… and since then- 5.7 years later I proposed.
SO how did I do that- I took her back to the squash court, put her ring in a squash ball and I asked her to MARRY ME!!!!
Please consider us as a potential winner so that I can tell all the guests our story. We have so much to share.

My fiance and I met at primary school. However we were never really friends and I’m not sure either of us even knew the other existed :) We went our seperate ways but met up again through a mutual friend towards the end of high school. He had turned into a really hunky guy and was quite unforgettable and different to the shy little boy with braces I remembered….we just clicked when we were together, and spent hours teasing each other and laughing together. We also realised that we were both coffee mad, passionate about running and enjoyed challenging each other intellectually. Sounds silly, but we went to each other’s Matric dances, fell in love, and the rest is history. We’ve grown so much together, been through some very tough times, so it was absolutely amazing when we got engaged last year!
This quote describes us completely: “We’re all a little weird. And life is weird. And when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall into
mutually satisfying weirdness—and call it love—true love.”
Please condiser us fro this awesome prize!

WOW where to begin? Our story started in our very own highschool. I never used to speak to this green eyed blond haired boy. He was part of the “Very interesting characters” group and I never really approached or spoke to the boys in this group! UNTIL our Afrikaans teachers had placed us next to one another as Afrikaans wasnt his strong point yet it was mine! So guess I had to assist (which involved talking to one another) and before I knew it he could spell “liefde” and I was on cloud number 9! Eventually I teacher had to seperate us and since them we were called the ( The HIGHSCHOOL SWEETHEARTS) :) After an exciting adventure of 7years I got the opportunity to say YES to the man of my dreams by simply helping him!

Chris and I met when he was inbetween his Olympic qualifying period and was in Johannesburg for one weekend only. He arranged to have drinks with a friend on the Friday evening (who was staying with me at the time) and I tagged along only to land up having such a good time with Chris that he spent the whole weekend at our place. He left to carry on with his Olympic journey but we have been together ever since and he is now on his path to qualify for his second Olympics in London later this year. We have been together ever since that one night out in Johannesburg and are getting married in December 2012. Chris moved to South Africa from Australia to be together so we have had such an interesting journey together already and we are so excited for the next chapter in our lives together…

My fiance and I met through mutual friends at school and I could not stand him as he did the typical boy likes girl thing by stabbing me with pencils, tripping me and the famous donkey bite! We’ve been toghether for 8 years and are finally tying the knot in December.

I met Warren at church. I used to look at him and think :”Oh he is gorg!!!” One day his sister asked my brother for my number without me knowing. That night she invited me on MXIT (can you still remember how big that was?). We talked for about 2 weeks then she asked if her brother (Warren) could invite me. I was sooo excited, I jumped up and down and screamed (we were still in highschool). So him and I started chatting, and about a month after that he sent me a message saying :”I like you and so what”, hahaha not the declaring-your-undying-love-type hey!!! So I sent him a message saying I like you so what are you gonna do about that? And finally he asked me to be his girl. So the years went on, we shared our matric farewell, I went twice how cool is that, and we went to all our friends weddings toghether dreaming about our own. He is now in varsity and got a bursary. So now we are saving up for the big day and I cant wait. We only have a year and a half to go. I’m a big fan of THE PRETTY BLOG and each day I go onto the site about 8 times just to check for updates. I saw the newspaper the first time with you guys, and since then I wanted that as part of the thank you gifts. I even went to find the prices on Newsfavor.com. We met at the rugby, both having partners. But we just had this connection! And could keep our eyes of one another.
The four of us became good friends, and were always together. My fiance and his partner grew apart, and me and my partner also didn’t work out.
Three months later we accidentally bumpt into one another and the sparks just flew!! We saw a lot more of each other and before we knew it, we were madly in love! We were the perfect couple
Four months later he asked the question and I said YES .. We have been together ever since, its now been 5 years and were still in love as the first day we met. Now getting married 27th of October 2012 and I really really can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with the love of my life.

I truly love him with my whole heart!!!

MyLo ( My Love ) met on 5 December 2010 at his cousins wedding. The groom was my best friends brother and the bride was his cousin. So I noticed this gorgeous guy in a red tie and straight after the ceremony I asked my best friend who he was. She wasn’t sure but later that night we found out he was the cousin of the bride. So I played it cool at the reception and the night was drawing to a close and we hadn’t even spoken. So I decided to make my move, as he was leaving and gave him a winning smile and guess what… HE JUST IGNORED ME!!! So at that point I was so over it and decided to just enjoy the rest of the evening and not worry about him. So the festive season passed and more than a month later he contacted me 21st century style, via facebook. And what can I say the rest is history! Later I found out the reason he ignored me was he was in a “kinda” relationship at the time and he didn’t think it was appropriate. Not only did I find myself a hunk but a gentleman as well. He truly is my everything, my one and only!

This always makes me laugh! We have my way and his way…since I’m submitting, I’ll opt for the real version (mine):
From the very beginning, we thought we were opposites.
We met at Tings & Times (a local hangout in Hatfield), where he worked and I was a regular (Yes, back in the day) Apparently (which I maintain) I refused his (many) advances, before finally going on a ‘concert’ date with him at Foundry’s, but only by accident since everybody suspiciously had to cancel at the last minute…
Nonetheless, we ended up having a blast together and stayed up all night talking.
I was a vegetarian, he was a strict carnivore.
I was happy-go-lucky and he couldn’t understand my impulsive lifestyle.
He loved Afrikaans rock , I never spoke the language.
The list goes on and on…
Over time we started to realize that we weren’t so different at all, that our differences made us a unique match and that the longer we were together, the best we brought out in each other.
Six years later, we can have a really good laugh at the road we walked together, enjoy watching KykNet after a wholesome 1/2 salad and 1/2 steak dinner.
We are getting married in September on our anniversary (which is also the same date he proposed) and I simply cannot wait!!!

I’m entering for my sister – she’s getting married in April and this would be an awesme surprise.
She met her husband to be at university. His best friend was dating one of her friends – the whole group went camping in Natures Valley for a weekend. On this camping trip my sister thought it a good idea to go skinny-dipping with her one girlfriend while all the boys went for a hike. The husband to be saw those but-cheecks and was hooked.
He spent a few months whooing her before she finally realised he was into her. The night they finally hooked up is a story in itself. He invited her to a braai at his friend’s house. She, being a complete scatterbrain, had the address wrong. Walked into the wrong party – one of those only men attend before a wedding – and was mistaken for the evenings entertainment. Luckily she got out unharmed and found the man of her dreams at the correct house.
Needless to say – the rest is history

I am not writing for myself today, but for a very dear friend of mine. You see, I truely think she is someone that will appreciate this giveaway more than anyone else and will most probably take this newspaper with her to her grave…seriously!
She met her wonderful fiance through mutual friends and it was love at first sight. They have been together for 6 years. Her fiance bought a ring and was waiting for the right moment to ask her to spend the rest of his life with him when they found out she is 5 weeks pregnant…oops!
She is such a girly girl, who always dreamt of a fairytale wedding, but seeing that they are pregnant, they want to get married before the little one arrives which means they don’t have the finances for all the little things in a wedding that makes your wedding day extra special. They are definitely meant for eachother!!! They are not just a beautiful, loving couple, but also such great friends.
Please Pretty Blog help my friend to create wonderful wedding memories by giving her this fantastic giveaway. They dont have much to spend on their wedding, so this will truely help so much. Please, please, please!!

Our story is definitely one of life messing with your plans – only to have the stars align perfectly.
We met on a blind date. Our friends were heading to a Christmas party and decided that the two of us needed to meet. I didn’t want to go (with only an hour’s notice, us girls need some prep time). Francois had gotten out a relationship a few months earlier and certainly didn’t feel like a blind date. But we went….and when he walked into the room, I knew I was in trouble. Our friends joke that for the rest of the night, the two of us were lost to the world.
The timing was wrong, but I felt certain that I had met the love of my life and I knew that I would hear from him again.
Then months passed without a word, to my great dismay. What I only found out later was that a few weeks after our date, Francois’ phone was stolen. Trying to get hold of my number he contacted a friend of mine who he knew through work. The friend told him I had started seeing someone, and that he should leave me alone (Not true! The friend had a crush on me, and was trying to eliminate the competition.)
After six months, I still couldn’t get him out of my head. And I decided, “Nothing ventured, nothing gained”. So I sent him an SMS: I think it’s time to stop your nonsense and take me out on a proper date. Within minutes I got a reply: You’re so right! What are your plans for tomorrow?
Long story short: 3 months and 26 days after our “proper” date he proposed. And on 29 September I’ll be marrying the man of my dreams.

Ahhh, how nice to think back to where it all started…:)
After several long term relationships, heartache, tears and disapprovement by my father, I met a guy…you could say perfect in every sense of the word. He had a good education, was brought up in a good family etc etc blah blah blah. Unfortunately for me however, he treated me as his property and started bossing me around. I was caught up between pleasing those that think they want what’s ‘best’ for me and what I know is. Nevertheless, me being the strong, independent and hard-headed women I am, no one even realise how unhappy I was.
A day before my final exam I had had enough…I was done. Dump the guy and still passed the exams:) And strangely enough when he asked to remain friends, I still said yes…but why??
{I should probably just put on record that 99% of all my boyfriends were above 1.9m}
I went for a braai to the ex’s house and it was there that I met the short, bald “boerseun” who is now the love of my life. We were instant best friends and just over 3 years of being together, he proposed at the exact spot we first told each other that we loved each other. I was amazing and I was blessed to yes in the presence of my father (yes, I am a daddy’s girl)!
We are getting married in March 2013 and are planning a vintage wedding. I have thought about doing my invitations on “newspaper-paper” but have not come across any suppliers…till today!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PICK ME!!

We met on an online dating site in September 2009. We chatted a bit, but there didn’t seem to be a spark. Six weeks later, he came to Durban on business. We decided to meet for dinner, since there would obviously be no spark…. Famous last words! The moment we met, we just clicked. It felt like we’d known each other for years. We’ve been together ever since.

I met the love of my life during high school in KZN. He transferred in from another school and joined my circle of friends. Although he was the perfect “tall, dark and handsome” type, I didn’t really think much of him as he teased me mercilessly. However, at our Matric dance after party we shared a special kiss. Teenage life continued as it does, and we remained friends.
Then shortly after matric, a bunch of the old school pals met up for a get-together. Needless to say, there was a bit of magic in the air and my man and I started dating after that evening. But scarcely a month later he decided that he was going to the navy and a relationship wasn’t an option. 13 years passed and I didn’t give him a second thought.
Fast forward to 2009, when his sister moved to Cape Town and I happened to come across her on Facebook. I enquired about him and found out he was working in Dubai, where I had just returned from holiday. Sorry that I’d missed him, I decided to “friend” him on Facebook and see how things were going. To my surprise, we starting talking via Facebook on a daily basis, and then emailing and texting each other. We realised after all those years, there was still a spark between us. 3 months later, he quit his job and moved to Cape Town. We’ve been together for 2 years now, and my man popped the question just after my birthday in January. Our wedding is set for 30 June 2012 and we couldn’t be happier that our relationship which has been 17 years in the making, has finally come full circle.

Me and my fiance met through a friend when we were 14/15, we were just friend then, after awhile we realised that we live a few streets from each other, so he came to visit a lot, there was always a bit of innocent flirtation between us but we never hooked up, when we were 16 he moved to wellington, and i still stayed in Kraaifontein. We didn’t see each other for 2 years or really communicated. suddenly in 2010, in college we bumped into each other, he became a handsome man, and me a young lady, it was love at first sight, although not one of us admitted it at the start, i still had a boyfriend then, several months went by and me and my ex broke up. i was single, and thought to myself now is my chance, my words to him was “guys like you don’t go for girls like me” which was true at that time, because he was into girly girls and me, well i was “different” lol. To him it was a challenge, so that Friday we went on a date, our first kiss ever, being close friends all those years (him always wanting to have kissed me and i was playing hard to get), and the kiss, was MAGICAL, tummy tingling, heart beating, right then and there i knew he was the one for me, the one i want to grow old with, the one i want to wake up to each morning, and fall asleep in his arms each night. we got engaged the same year and we are getting married the 12/12/12. and can hardly wait to become Mrs. van Eck, to say “i do” and to give my all to him.

I was planning my birthday last year (April 2011) – always wanted to go see what Moyo was about & do the tree top dinner with friends. (Planning started 1st April ) I then decided after friends persuaded me to do booking at MOYO – When i called i found a friendly attractive manly voice on the other side who assisted. I was joky & very forward and demanding of what i wanted exactly. He was listening patiently and it felt like i was talking to a best friend…..mean while i did not know or have ever met this guy …… my friends were listening to our conversation whilst on the phone with the booking & could not believe how i could speak to someone the way i did…..full of confidence & fun. They started mocking me and said i was quite flirtatious… know how was i going to face him the night of the event……i admit afterwards i was a bit nervous. It was my party and wanted it to work out the way i imagined – so needed to do what i had to to get what i imagened. (Being a salesperson that i am – lol) After a week i received a call from him – new happenings taking place – “Good Luck” the band will be performing and he had arrange some VIP treatment – okay that sounds more interesting than just a dinner – must agree…….. Nite of party – o wow – what a hunk a lunc that was waiting for our party arrival – i was checked upon regulary (i think he was just flirting :)) to ensure i was enjoying myself…….Friends started saying that seems like he likes me…..i did not bother much……Friends left early and i still wanted to party…….When he had to leave and saw most of friends had left he came over and asked for my BBM pin – hhhmmmmm, I was invited to go with him to another party…….so sweet of him……yes you quest it – we became very good friends and……. now we are engaged to be married :)

♥♥♥My fiance and I met in High School on a prefects camp in 2004. He caught my eye with his impeccable sense of humor and spontaneity. Every time he walked into a room my heart lit up, my knees turned into jelly and the butterflies in my tummy went crazy! We became friends; and then best friends. We had the most amazing times together!! With time we realized that the storybook friendship we have is turning into a storybook romance. His parents owned a farm near the town where we live and one summer afternoon when he came to visit me it was pouring with rain. He drove to the front of my door, stepped out of his car and serenaded me in the pouring rain. He then went on to open the trunk of his car and to my surprise it was completely filled with Cosmos flowers that he had picked for me knowing that I love these bright little flowers :) He then asked me if I would please be his girlfriend and I said yes without any hesitation. The amazing bond we had and the close friends we had become – was the perfect foundation for Love made in heaven! That’s where the magic started! ♥
In March 2011 – 7years later – he took me on a romantic trip to Italy where the two of us had the most amazing time! We went sightseeing in all of the mystical, history-filled towns like Venice, Milan, St. Moritz in Switzerland and a lot of the charming smaller towns in Italy. We played in the snow and stood on top of St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican…but it was Rome – the Eternal City that truly captured our hearts! On a sunny spring afternoon with the sun setting over ancient Rome, he had other plans… While we were admiring the spectacular Fantana di Trevi – he went down on one knee in front of hundreds of tourists and asked me if I would marry him? I was flabbergasted with joy and immediately said yes! For a moment it was just the two of us, engaged & kissing in front of the mystical Trevi fountain – lost in our own world. It was the most incredible moment and a privilege to start our eternity in the Eternal City! We are getting married in December and I can’t wait to spend every second of my life with my best friend, my motivation and the love of my life. ♥♥♥

I got engaged to the most amazing man on 1 March…
We met a little less than 3 years ago when I started working for the same company as him. I was very attracted to this extremely smart, fun manager but there was nothing romantic between the two of us for months. I secretly admired him for a long time and had no idea the feeling was mutual until he took the bold step of taking me for dinner and delivering a bunch of roses at my flat. I couldn’t believe my luck and he was scared I was going to report him… We realised that it could potentially get very akward at office but on the days we didn’t see each other we spoke on the phone for hours. Soon we realised it’s just meant to be.
We still can’t go a day without talking to each other and if we don’t see one another it just doesn’t feel right. And I still can’t believe my luck…

I applied for a job in the second year of my masters degree (basically for no reason, as I was still studying ). Three interviews later I got the job! So a packed up everything, but studies aside and move to Ceres. Moved in on the Saturday, went to church the Sunday and met my fiance for the first time. We became very good friends, started dating on my birthday and got engaged on the 29 February 12 (promise I did not ask him!) We were ment to celbrate my masters degree and our 9month aniversary, but we actually celebrate a whole lot more that day…

While sitting at the back of a game vehicle, bouncing over the uneven road, we had our first conversation. It hasn’t really stopped since then. We met on an archaeological survey of a farm, on the border of South Africa and Botswana; where we camped on the embankment of the Limpopo River sharing the space with crocodiles and other wildlife. Gerhard and I were put in the same team for the surveys, and after two weeks in the field we were the best of mates. When I got back home, I broke up with my boyfriend, I knew what I wanted and he wasn’t it. The chemistry between Gerhard and I was palpable to everyone around us; however, he was unaware and I was patient. Then after three long months, we were sitting together with some friends at a bar when the truth flew from our drunken mouths. Seven words whizzed out of our hearts “I like you” followed by “I like you too”. Corny but true, we have dated since then. Last year December while hiking at Natures Valley, he pulled me off the path; with the Groot river as our audience he declared his intention to make me his wife. This time I was unaware and he waited patiently for my response. Lol, after a few (I hear very long) seconds I said yes. We dated throughout undergraduate and are now both following postgraduate studies in archaeology. Our lives are about following our passions, and in December this year we embark on a life-long journey.

My Fiance and I both work for the same airline. We met while I was visiting a friend of mine who was nightstopping in Cape Town. A few weeks later we crossed paths again while out with a group of friends. After countless hints that he “had nothing to do on his nightstop later that week” I asked him out to dinner. Long story short we have had dinner every week since then. After at least 145 Nightstops , countless swops to be in the same city, thousands of miles and really high phone bills , I decided to pack up and move to Joburg. A while later he gave me a map with the destination covered with black marker and asked me to fly us there. We arrived at a Private game lodge. Still not suspecting anything the following day , he suprised me with an adventure flip on a helicopter. It stopped on top of a mountain ledge to “show us the view”. As I walked toward the edge I saw a picnic basket with Champagne set up. I turned around to see him on his knee with a little box in his hand….. (he says he planned to leave me on the mountain had I said no). I am marrying my best friend and Prince Charming in the sleepy West Coast town of Paternoster in October this year

Dit was so lekker! Saam. Ek moet nou submit die tyd is amper verby! :) :) :) hehe.

I was on a business trip – flying to Hong Kong – when I heard those magic words “boarding completed”… the seat next to me was empty…and even though I was flying business class (ah the good old days ) it was the best start to my 12 hr flight.
I got myself ready for my 2nd glass of champagne when this guy came from the back of the aircraft, loaded with books, jacket, earphones hanging from the ear – and took the seat next to me. It was like someone just took the last chocolate which you longed for since days, from you. After dropping half of the books over me and made some excuses, he finally sat himself down, just as they started to get the cabin ready for take off..
At that point I went from super calm, to what the hell??? I decided to calm myself and ask again for the champagne I was then waiting for since 10 minutes – off course the cabin crew only wanted to get us in the air… when mr next to me, got up – went to the front of the aircraft and came back with 2 glasses of champagne. I was still having my “leave me alone” face on – but deep inside, I thought that was the sweetest thing he could have done.
We ended up talking for almost half of the flight to Hong Kong, where after landing, exchanged business cards, said a quick goodbye and went our seperate ways.
A few weeks later we started taking up contact by email – exchanging business contacts (we were both in simular jobs ) and decided to meet up for a drink. The year that followed, I grew more and more attracted to him, but somehow valued our short friendship more and decided it would be too risky to “make that move”
Exactly a year later we were both in Hong Kong again and managed to fit in a dinner together, in our travel schedule. I was with my 2 most important clients… and he, the tag along. Over the dinner, the 2 women that accompanied us, made all kind of excuses to leave (they later on told me that he didn’t stop looking at me the entire dinner and they knew that 4 was a crowd) so we ended up alone in a bar, overlooking the Hong Kong sky line… it couldn’t get any more romantic than that.
So to cut a long story short… and we all anyhow know what happened next…. ;-)
Karsten and I are now together 4 years and on 31.12.2011 he proposed in Cape Town, on the way to Canal Walk shopping centre – on the N1 – exit Sable road (it couldn’t get more romantic than this ) luckily he was driving….
We set a date for our wedding on 22.12.2012 and I cannot wait to sit next to him for all the rest of the travels, we will do together.

Good day.
Thank you for the opportunity to enter.
Me and my fiance Juandre Coetzer have been engaged for over a year now and we truly want to get married but do not have the finances. He is the perfect man and I want to spend the rest of my life with him, but circumstances are not allowing us the opportunity and he is going to the airforce next year 2013 and I will not be seeing him for a while.
It will be a dream come true to be married to this man and it will be a true blessing from God it we can receive this opportunity.
