About two months ago, we were asked by the decor editor of Rooi Rose Magazine to create a festive lunch table. Part of the brief was that it had to be “do-able”. So we thought we would do something in white, as most people have some sort of white crockery set or linen. The idea is behind the look is to recycle all your bits in bobs in shades of white and use them as decor elements for a festive table. Just by using the same colour you can combine family heirlooms like vintage linen or cutlery with brand new crockery. You can also throw in incomplete sets, take out those three mismatched sideplates at the back of the cupboard and give them a new life.
So we were set on the shades of white idea, but we also wanted to give it a little warmth, as we are still easing out of winter. We decided that we would add a straw/honey colour to it and give it a milk and honey theme! Et voila!
Although we did use some of our own trusty white decor items, we got some gorgeous goodies from some of our favourite decor shops to help create the look. A big thank you to Retha from The Farmer’s Daughter, Linda from Nest, Lourette from Lapoplap, Elmarie from el LE Fleur, Petrina from Dalewood Fromage, Amy from Doodles Laser, Felicity from Domaine du Cap and Lisa from Okasie Events. Last but certainly not least a huge thank you to Anelle from Seven Swans for your help and for the pretty stationery. She will be posting milk and honey dinner party printables for tomorrow’s DIY.
Elmarie from el LE Fleur gave us the idea to put the flowers in the milk, and it looks so pretty! Easy, affordable and quircky decor idea all in one.
