We had the priviledge to be involved with this year’s Design Indaba. Together with Bianca from The Printerie and Anelle from Seven Swans, our regular DIY contributors, we hosted two kids’ workshops at Design Indaba.
Our aim was to show the kids how to be creative with something as simple as paper. Their first craft was making photobooth props, and we showed them how it can be a turned into fun activity for a birthday party. Next up was paper bunting. This is a easy, cost-effective craft for kids because all you need is some string, paper and brainy fingers. Once they finished their crafts they had the chance to take some fun pictures in our photobooth. Each child left with a picture and a goodie bag, including all the supplies they need to make the crafts at home.
I must admit I have little experience with children, and I am so grateful for Anelle and Bianca’s help. I’m telling you they are not only great designers; they are great with kids too! I was really impressed. They even brought their husbands along to help. The little boys loved the fact that the dudes (i.e our wonderful husbands) where helping them with the crafts. It was a challenge, but it was great fun, the kids were so amazing.
A big thank you to everyone involved: Anelle and Bianca for all your hard work, Sean, Dirk and Wynand, for giving up your weekend to support us, Adri for the pictures and last but not least Julie from In Good Company and Annari from Nelle Cakes.
Nelle Cakes were so generous to sponsor some colourful photobooth shaped cookies for the kids, and In Good Company sponsored paper daisies, party badges and baloons for our goodie bags.
