Tea Please {Inspiration}

Today’s post was a request by a groom! (We are so impressed). They are having a high tea to celebrate their wedding and he wanted some inspiration. We think it’s such a cool idea, especially for a day wedding. I can just see all the girls in pretty dresses sipping tea from delicate cups.

Decor:

You can incorporate the tea cup theme throughout the wedding. Arrange flowers in old tea pots and cups. Use tea cups to serve some of the food in, for example small lattice chicken pies (just don’t use grandma’s cups). Tie old tea cups to the chandelier or use tea  saucers as decor on the walls.

Food:

I think the food at a high tea is really inportant (like with any wedding I suppose) as beautiful pastries and cake can be seen as part of the decor. Choose decorative cakes, cupcakes, macaroons in different colours and flavours, delicate pastries and tarts. Make the food part of your decor by making it a feature. Put the tasty treats on beautiful stands on a table or even a shelf or cupboard.

Serve a variety of teas in pretty boxes, and use decorated sugar cubes instead of  regular old white sugar.

Pull the tea theme through by serving Long Island Ice tea for cocktail hour. Or make a cocktail using iced tea.

I love anything to do with food {especially eating}, collecting pretty things, nesting, afternoon naps, reading and pinning. I am terrible at any kind of needle work, and I secretly envy those who can knit, sew and crochet. Freshly picked jasmin makes me happy. If I could choose my last meal on earth it, would be warm ciabatta bread with lashings of butter.

    This is gorgeous! Fabulous pictures. I’m organising a 40th birthday tea party for next week. The guest of honour wants everything in white and silver.
    High tea – one of my most favourite things to do.
