If you grew up in South Africa you will know what a bazaar is. If not, it ‘s a little bit like a carnival. It always includes lucky packets, home made sweets, ginger beer and baked treats, as well as fun games for the children.
As children, we always spent the days following Christmas lounging around the pool. Thinking back at this carefree time it conjures up memories of bright
coloured cold drinks, slices of cold watermelon and the smell of freshly cut grass.
We would like to wish all our Pretty Blog followers and sponsors a very blessed and peaceful Christmas. We hope you enjoy this special celebration with your family and loved ones.
Traditionally my family has mainly celebrated Christmas Eve – usually an intimate dinner with our very small family. We love opening gifts under the sparkling tree and its rarely been a big affair. However in a last minute decision we’re hosting our very first Christmas Day luncheon – complete with a whole pig, turkey and goose!
If, like me, you are still trying to finalise your Christmas menu, then here’s an idea for dessert. I just love trifle, not necessarily because of the way it tastes, but because it’s so pretty and versatile. You can really beautify them by adding fresh berries, pomegranate rubies or sparkly sugared almonds.
