DIY by Lucky No.9
Everyone loves a good wine festival but after attending a few myself I’ve ended up with an assortment of free wineglasses in different sizes. I’ve held onto them because I figured there would be a use for them at some point and finally I’ve found the perfect DIY solution.
With just a few sheets of tracing paper fashioned into small lampshades, the wineglasses are transformed into elegant candle holders, fit for any cocktail soiree or wedding centrepiece.
While the simple shape is great as is, they’re also really easy to customise. In the examples above I added a butterfly and flower made from leftover tracing paper scraps, punched holes to create an interesting detail and finally I joined two templates together and used a concertina fold for a pleated look.
You can use different colour tracing paper, ribbon or even beads to transform your wineglass lampshades into something unique and personal.
This project is also great for wineglasses that have been chipped and incomplete stemware sets!
So go ahead, download the template and get crafting!

Won’t the candle get too hot for the thin glass and cause it to break ?
very nice idea though !
Hi Kristien
To my knowledge as long as you are using the right size candle and there is ventilation through the mouth of the glass you should not have any problems. Tea lights also only burn for a certain duration and generate a small amount of heat which is ideal for the wineglasses. You can also use battery operated tea lights instead :)

Awesome idea!!
