#2: Colour Scheme {wedding planning}

I’ve started with my visual diary and then after many pictures, inspiration and ideas, Iaan and I started selecting colour combinations… My fist idea was white, white and a little more white! I know it’s probably not a creative choice for weddings, but white makes me happy. :) It’s light and beautiful and very me!

But then on the other hand I felt like doing something different. I wanted to choose colours with personality. Colours which still suited Iaan and I, but with some element of fun. So this is what we ended up with…

I call it: Boy meets girl…

Credit for the photos: I have to admit I slipped up on this one. I’ve been collecting these photos in a folder for a long time and never wrote down the specific sites I collected them from. I know that most of them come from Style Me Pretty, but the rest…I seriously have no idea. *Big apology from my side!*

When you’re in the process of selecting colours, pick out a few images with the same colour tone and stick them together in your visual diary. Then look at the picture as a whole and decide if you like what you see. Design little mood boards, like below. It’s a good idea to pick a few different colour schemes and then compare them. Mood boards will help you to make this decision.

Another thing to keep in mind is whether the colour scheme will work with your venue.

If you’re a bride and you’ve made some mood boards for your wedding, please feel free to share them with us! You can submit them by mailing Nicola.

I’m a dreamer, designer, photographer, wife, friend and blogger. I love pretty things, white is my favourite colour and natural light makes me happy. I’m totally in love with South Africa and I’m proud to call it my home! I can never say no to ice-cream and I can’t go anywhere without taking a photo :)

    Such a lovely selection of inspiration. While white weddings are always beautiful, it is the quirky colourful ones that are really memorable. And I have such a soft spot for candy colours… lookign forward to seeing what else you have in store! xoxo
