This is our first real wedding by the wonderfully talented photographer Nikki Meyer. I saw this wedding some time ago on her website, and I absolutely adore it. The grey, white and yellow colour palate just works so beautifully, and I absolutely love, love, love Tanja’s dove grey wedding dress by Klûk. Something else that makes this wedding super special are the gorgeous flower arrangements by Okasie Florist. This wedding is modern and edgy, yet elegant and timeless. Very refreshing!
Pierre and Tanja met as students in Stellenbosch. They lived in opposite dormitories and bumped into each other regularly. The two became good friends and officially started seeing each other only a week before Pierre had to leave for England. Tanja had some doubts about a long distance relationship, but the two kept in contact and started dating after Tanja went to visit Pierre in England. On a magical night in Franschhoek, after 5 years together, Pierre popped the question.
On a perfect summer’s day Tanja walked down the aisle of a in small church in Simondium to marry the man of her dreams. The reception was held at the stunning Val de Vie Wine & Polo Estate. The decor was just what Tanja wanted, different and original.
What was the most memorable part of your wedding day?
Seeing how our guests enjoyed every moment of the day! I was so pleased with everything. Everything was perfect, just as I wanted it, my dress, the decor and my husband’s smile when I was walking down the aisle. We were also blessed with amazing weather!
Any advice for brides-to-be?
Just keep calm, you are just working on everyone’s nerves if you are unreasonable and over thinking every little detail.
Where did you get most of your ideas and inspiration from?
I previously worked for OKASIE Florist’s wedding department. What I learnt while working for OKASIE has helped to sculpt me into the person I am today. I discovered my real flair for fashion, trends and beautiful things and this just turned on my creative buttons!
Any time saving or organising tips?
Create a list of the most important to least important things that you need to take care of for your big day. Also set a time line that you need to adhere to. Handle your wedding as the most important project you will ever be part of, and ensure you use great wedding suppliers. Meet with at least 3 different service providers per category, before settling on one.
What song did you choose for your opening dance?
